Abstract

1,065,854. Horizontal sliding sashless windows. R. DALLAIRE. Feb. 5, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1964], No. 6788/64. Heading E1J. A horizontally sliding sashless window has fittings which are preferably made from extruded vinyl resins and comprise a header track 34 mountable in the wooden header 33 with a resilient foamed plastic seal strip 35, normally in a slightly compressed state by means of screws 36, so that the track 34 may be further moved into the groove to enable the slidable pane 22, 23 to be removed for cleaning &c., a pair of corresponding side tracks 28, Fig. 1, for each pair of panes 22, 23 or 24, 25, each mounted in position on the jambs to receive the upright edges of the panes fitted with a side rail 26 to cooperate with the track to form a seal joint when seated in it, and the meeting edges of the panes having rails 27 adapted to overlap to form a seal in the closed positions of the panes, and a sill track 32, Fig. 2, defining a plurality of tracks 40 with convex ridges 43 in the bottom surfaces thereof and a barbed retaining flange 37 for cooperation in a channel 38 of the sill, the sill track having projections 44, provided with drainage holes and supported on the sill such that the bottoms of the tracks 40 lie in a horizontal plane. Weather strips 49 seated in channels 28 in the tracks 34 and side tracks 28 from seals with the pane and side rails, 26 and meeting rails 27. The side rails may be extruded in pairs as a unit, forms of which are described. The side rails have a flange 30 adapted to cooperate with a locking member 29 as described and claimed in Specification 1,065,855 having a base secured to the jambs 20 or 21 and a hook 64 urged to engage the flange 30 by a resilient or spring member 63.
