Abstract

820,210. Open fireplaces. WALKER, R. Feb. 25, 1957 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 33790/55. Class 126 [Also in Group XIII] A boiler to be fitted removably in a domestic fireplace has water tubes 14 interconnecting two hollow side checks 10, 12 each of which has a lug or projection 18 for supporting a firegrate 20 above the tubes 14. One of the cheeks has an outlet 24 and an inlet 26 for the water or each cheek has one or the other. The water tubes 14 may be of non-circular section and be curved so as to be higher at the middle of the grate. A hollow front 16 also interconnects the cheeks 10, 12 and may be integrally cast with or welded to them. There may also be a hollow member interconnecting the rear ends of the cheeks. An opening 22 for the introduction of an ash pan is formed through the hollow front 16 and has a cover 28 which may be suspended from hinges 30 and have a spring 32 to retain it in an open position if required. The cover 28 may be detachably mounted in the opening 22 and provided with at least one valve-controlled opening.
