Class 68(2) A sub-aqueous foundation for constructions at great depths comprises a lower part 1 having a cross shaped recess 2 on its upper surface and an upper part 3 having a correspondingly shaped projection 4 on its lower surface. In use the lower part 1 is first lowered into place to assume a position dependent on the contour of the bottom, then the angle of its top face is determined so that the upper part 3 can be correspondingly constructed so that its upper face will assume the desired orientation when its lower face is made to rest upon the upper surface of the lower part with the projection 4 and recess 2 in engagement. When this procedure has been carried out for all of the foundations the construction to be supported is lowered on to them. The engaging projections and recesses may be formed and distributed on the contact surfaces otherwise than as shown. The parts 1 and 2 are particularly suitable for production by concrete casting.
