Class 20(2) [Also in Group XXX] A jack for lifting a building for underpinning has a layer of finely divided material K, e.g. sand between the top J of the jack and the building. A pocket is cut in the wall to house the jack. The sand is contained by a band M of rubber or stiff material or the top of the jack may have bristles to prevent excessive flow of the sand during jacking. Specifications 599,317 and 856,612 are referred to.
