729,805. Pit props. BECORIT-GRUBENAUSBAU GES. May 22, 1953, No. 14524/53. Class 20 (2). A pit prop has two footplates of different size, the smaller footplate 2 being rigidly secured to the bottom 1 of the prop and having a shallow domed surface 4, and the larger footplate 5 having a cavity 6 which will receive the smaller footplate 2 with a clearance at the sides, the larger footplate 5 being detachably secured to the smaller footplate 2 by means of bars 8 which are held by screws 11 upon the upper surface of the footplate 5 and are spaced vertically from the rim 3 of the lower footplate 2 and horizontally from the lower prop member 1. The surface of the cavity 6 has a shape corresponding to the curvature of the surface 4 of the smaller footplate 2, and when the prop is used on a soft floor with the larger footplate 5 attached, relative rocking movement can occur between the prop and the footplate 5. When the prop is used on a hard floor the footplate 5 may be detached and the face 4 of the smaller footplate 2 placed against the floor.
