Cable 9 is guided on to winch drum 1 by guide 11, the drum 1 being mounted on baseplate 2 to rotate on bearing 6 about a vertical axis, and the guide 11 being mounted on horizontal drum axis 50 so that the position of the guide bush 12 changes as the direction of cable changes. The bush 12 comprises ball bearings and the mounting of drum 1 on baseplate 2 is eccentric. Specification 779,312 is referred to.
