Abstract

Sulphur dyestuffs of the phthalocyanine series are made by reacting a polynitrophthalocyanine, or a metal salt complex thereof, with chlorosulphonic acid and then with at least 5 gram atoms of sulphur for each mol. of the polynitro-phthalocyanine compound, at a temperature of 70-150 DEG C. and for a period of 2-48 hours. The greenish to bluish olive-grey dyestuffs dye cotton from a sodium sulphide vat. In an example, copper and cobalt tetra-(4-nitro)-phthalocyanines are used. Specification 816,656 is referred to.
