Abstract

Sulphur-containing dyes of the phthalocyanine or a metal complex salt thereof at a temperature of 70-150 DEG C. with chlorosulphonic acid and at least 5 mols. of sulphur monochloride per mol. of polyaminophthalocyanine compound. The product dyes cotton from sodium sulphide solution greenish or bluish olive-grey shades. In Examples: (1) tetra-(4 amino) - copper - phthalocyanine, tetra - (4-amino) - cobalt - phthalocyanine; and (2) a tetramino - copper - phthalocyanine prepared from a nitration mixture of phthalic acid containing 3- and 4-nitro-phthalic acid are subjected to the above process.
