Abstract
9122. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. April 12. Sulphuretted dyes, insoluble in sodium sulphide solutions, but forming vats with alkali hydrosulphite, are obtained by treating for a comparatively long time in aqueous or alcoholic solution with alkali polysulphides containing a high percentage of sulphur, the following compounds: - p-amino-p<1>-oxydiphenylamine or homologues thereof, such as those mono- or dialkylated in the amino group, or halogen derivatives of these compounds, or the corresponding indophenols, also mono- or di-alkyl-p-aminop<1>-indophenol thiosulphonic acids (obtained by oxidizing together alkyl-p-phenylenediamine thiosulphonic acid and phenol, or a homologue or halogen derivative of either), or the corresponding mercaptans or disulphides or the thiozines obtained therefrom, or the leuco compounds of these bodies, and also the sulphuretted dyes soluble in alkali sulphide obtained from the above-mentioned compounds. According to examples, dyes are obtained from the following parent materials: -p-dimethylamino-p<1>-oxydiphenylamine, the corresponding indophenol, the indophenols from dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine and o-chlorphenol or o-o-dichlorphenol, the leuco compound of the last-named indophenol, methylene violet, p-dimethylamino - p<1> - oxy-m<1>-m<1>-dichlordiphenylamine mercaptan, the sulphuretted dye from methylene violet described in Specification 4024/01, the sulphuretted dye from p-dimethylamino-p'-oxydiphenylamine described in Specification 16,247/00, the leucoindophenol from p-phenylenediamine and o-chlorphenol, the leucoindophenol from p-xylidine and o-o-dichlorp aminophenol, and the leucoindophenol from monoethylaniline and p-aminophenol. The products dye greenish-blue to violet-blue shades from the vat. Specification 7726/01 is also referred to. p - Dimethylamino-p<1>-oxy-m<1>-m<1>-dichlordiphenylamine mercaptan is obtained by reducing with sodium sulphide the product obtained by oxidizing together dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine thiosulphonic acid and o-o-dichlorphenol.
