Abstract
16,246. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. July 15. Samples furnished under Section 2 of Patents &c. Act, 1907. Diaminodianthraquinonylamine / dyes, artificial.- Products, some of which dye cotton bluish shades from a hydrosulphite vat, are obtained by treating, with acetic anhydride or glacial acetic acid in the presence of concentrated or fuming sulphuric acid, compounds containing two anthraquinone groups joined together by one inimo group, or by two imino groups, and also containing an amino group or a mono-substituted amino group in the a-position. The following initial materials are specified : the diaminodianthraquinonylamine obtainable by reducing the dinitro body described in Specification No. 13,057, A.D. 1906 ; the dye obtainable by melting the said nitro body with sodium sulphide as described in the Specification referred to above ; and the dye obtainable from 1 :4-diamino-2 : 3- dibromanthraquinone as described in Specification No. 7692, A.D. 1904. The reduction of the dinitro body can be effected in a previous operation, for instance by means of dilute sodium sulphide solution, or the reduction and formation of the dye can be effected in one operation by treating the dinitro body with sulphur, fuming sulphuric acid, and glacial acetic acid or acetic anhydride.
