July 31, 1917, [Convention date]. 4<1> - p - oxyphenylamino - 2 - amino - 4: 5 - dichlordiphenylamine is prepared by condensing 1-nitro-2 : 4 : 5-trichlorbenzene with aniline in the presence of sodium acetate, condensing the resulting dichlornitrodiphenylamine with p - nitrosophenol in sulphuric acid solution, and reducing the product. Sulphuretted dyes.-A dye, giving navy-blue shades on cotton in alkali sulphide or hydrosulphite baths, is obtained by heating 4'-p-oxyphenylamino-2-amino-4 : 5 - dichlordiphenylamine with sulphur or alkali polysulphide, alone or in presence of a solvent such as glycerine, aromatic bases, phenols, &c.
