Abstract

6270. Chemische Fabrik vorm. Sandoz. Sept. 24, 1908, [Convention date]. Oxazine dyes.-Blue and violet dyes are obtained by condensing gallocyanine (obtained from nitrosodimethylaniline and gallic acid) with resorcin in alkaline solution in presence of a current of air or other oxidizing-agent ; according to examples, by carrying out the process in cold or warm solution, two different bodies are obtained ; under suitable conditions a by-product is obtained, the leuco derivative of which appears identical with the gallocyanine - resorcin condensation product described in Specification 24,802/93. The sulphonic acids of the bodies prepared according to the present process dye chrome-mordanted wool blue or violet shades. The leuco compounds are suitable for calico-printing, giving blue to violet shades ; they may be obtained by reduction with zinc in acid solution or with sodium sulphide or other alkaline reduciug-agent.
