Abstract

Azaporphin dyestuffs are made by acylating an azaporphin containing an acylatable amino group with an aryl-carboxylic acid halide sulphonic acid chloro- or bromo-alkylamide having up to 4 carbon atoms in the alkylene group. The invention also comprises dyestuffs of the formula:- <FORM:0868746/IV(c)/1> where A is an azaporphin compound, D is -E,NH,CO,Ar,SO2,X, G is -SO3H, -SO2 NHArSO3H, <FORM:0868746/IV(c)/2> Y is a whole number from 1 to 4, Z is a whole number from 0 to 3 and (Y + Z) is a whole number from 1 to 4, and wherein E is a direct linkage, <FORM:0868746/IV(c)/3> Ar is an aromatic radical containing up to two benzene nuclei and X is a chloro- or bromo-alkylamino radical containing up to 4 carbon atoms. The dyestuffs dye and print textile goods of natural and/or regenerated cellulose in conjunction with an alkali and heat treatment blue and greenish-blue shades.
