Abstract

The invention comprises dyes of the formula: <FORM:0706737/IV(c)/1> where R is -aryl-N=N-aryl-. They are made by reacting two mols. of 1-amino-5-(o-fluorobenzoylamino)-anthraquinone with one mol. of an acylating agent which is derived from a dicarboxylic acid containing an azo group. The usual solvents may be employed for the reaction. The products may be used as such or as leuco-ester salts for dyeing wool, silk, cotton, linen, artificial silk, regenerated cellulose, and nylon yellow shades. In examples, 1 - amino - 5 - (o - fluorobenzoylamino) - anthraquinone is reacted with the dichloride of an azodiphenyl dicarboxylic acid of the formula: <FORM:0706737/IV(c)/2> or with 1 : 1\sv-azobenzene-3, 3\sv- or -4, 4\sv-dicarboxyli acid. An example of the dyeing of cotton is given.
