Class 142(2) A warp beam, rotated by ratchet mechanism operated by the slay movement, has its rotation varied in accordance with the movement of a presser arm and also in accordance with the warp tension. A rod 13 pivoted at 14 to the slay 5 rocks arms 11, 12 connected by a movable pin 28 to arms 15, 16, the arm 16 being connected by a rod 39 to the ratchet mechanism 51, 52, The presser arm 19, on a shaft 17, moves in the direction of the arrow a as the yarn unwinds and causes an arm 25 to swing, thereby moving the pin 28 connecting arms 11 and 15 and altering the operation of the ratchet mechanism and the let-off motion. The rod 39 is adjustable connected in a graduated slot in the arm 16 by a pin 38. This movement increases the distance between the pivot 35 and the roller 42 so that the movement of the rack 41 is increased and the amount of yarn let-off is also increased. When a pedal 97 is depressed the pawls are disengaged from the ratchet wheel and a shaft 43, connected by toothed gearing to the warp beam, can be turned via a clutch 65, by a hand-wheel 99 on a shaft 61. The warp tension is eased during shedding by a lever 77 operated by a cam 72. The warp is held under tension at beat-up by a cam 71 and an arm 75. The arm 75 has a spring loaded piston 88 which engages a shoe 87 on an arm 86 mounted on a shaft 30 carrying the weight lever 29. The shoe 87 also ensures that the warp is not affected by the weights 31 when the loom is not running.
