Abstract
813,783. Lace machines. JARDINE Ltd., J. Sept. 13, 1955 [Sept. 14, 1954], No. 26530/54. Class 74 (1). When a warp beam 1 is stationary, an arm 22 is swung clockwise (Fig. 1) by a compression spring 21, acting through a pin 20, cotter 19 fast to the pin and slidable in a horizontal slot in a hollow spindle 6, arms 15, 16 of a governor and a thrust ball bearing 17. A band 2 is thereby applied to a brake drum 29 on the warp beam through the intermediary of a light spring 26. When the warp beam is rotating, however, the governor weights 13, 14 fly outwardly causing their arms 15, 16 to slide the pin 20 to the right against the action of the spring 21, allowing the arm 22 to swing counter-clockwise, to release the brake. The brake is thus applied when the machine stops, to avoid slackening of the warps, and is released when the machine starts.
