Abstract

789,490. Hose reel mountings. STEWARTWARNER CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1956 [March 8, 1955], No. 5347/56. Class 99(2). A hose guide 7 is carried by an arm 5 rotatable about the hose reel axis. The arm is rotatably mounted on bearing washers 3. In a preferred embodiment a stop 6 permits the guide arm 5 to rotate from a vertical position, Fig. 2, through approximately 75 degrees. The stop could be omitted or arranged to permit more movement of the arm. Disc 27 which has three grooves thereon co-operates with a second disc 28 to form a latch arrangement. If the hose is slowly released to allow the reel and discs 27 to rotate slowly in a clockwise direction under tension from a spring 15 then a wheel 32 is forced into a groove and the wheel 32 will hold the reel against clockwise movement when it is desired to rewind the hose the hose is pulled suddenly and then released to allow the reel to rotate at sufficient speed to cause the wheel 32 to bounce over the grooves.
