Abstract

566,035. Loom stop motions. HOLMES, GOLDRICH, & CO., Ltd., and BENSON, N. April 7, 1943, No. 5527. [Class 142 (i)] A stop motion for a loose'reed loom is provided with mechanism whereby, when a trapped shuttle exercises pressure on the reed, the setting-on handle is released and a brake is applied to stop the loom. The lower rib of the reed 1 is pressed against the back of the shuttle race 3 by an arm 5 rotatable with an arm 7 having a projection 8 normally out of alignment with a lever 12 connected to the brake 14 and setting-on handle 20. A trapped shuttle moves the lower rib of the reed and rotates the arms 5, 7 so that the brake and setting-on handle are actuated. In a modification, the brake and setting-on handle are interconnected, and the arm 7 acts directly upon the handle. The brake and setting-on handle may be connected in such manner as to provide for relative adjustment, and may be held in adjusted position by spring means.
