Abstract

937,689. Loose reed-shuttle stop motions. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. Aug. 25, 1961 [Aug. 25, 1960], No. 30811/61. Class 142 (2). If a shuttle 50 remains in the shed springs 31 push out the loose reed 11 before beat up. The reed 11 is supported on a member 25 attached to a number of pivoted levers 26, at least one of which has a roller 29 running on a lever 32 as the sley 16 reciprocates. The lever 32 is supported by a pawl 37 attached to a pivoted member 36 bearing against a spring 41. At back centre, the spring 41 is strong enough to overcome the action of the springs 31 and, as the sley moves forward so that the roller 29 runs on the lever 32 and the springs 31 would tend to overcome the spring 41, the lever 26 bears on a pivoted member 42 to cancel the action of the springs 31and to lock the reed. If, as the sley moves forward, a shuttle 50 jams in the shed, the reed is moved slightly back by the shuttle, the member 36 slightly compresses the spring 41 so that the pawl 37 is released by a stop 40 and the springs 31 are allowed to push out the reed 11 upon collapse of the lever 32.
