Abstract

529,778. Looms. SMITH, R. H., and SHACKLETON, G. W. May 25, 1939, No. 15507. [Class 142 (ii)] Letting-off warps.-The warp beam A is positively rotated by a ratchet lever 10, epicyclic gearing on the shaft 2, and a cam operated rod 6g at a speed dependent on the position of the back rest 3a, i.e. on the warp tension, and the size of the warp beam A. The rod 6g oscillates a lever 7b about it axis 7a which transmits motion to a lever 8 pivoted at 3d through a roller 7d, which is connected by links, &c., 5g, 5f, to the weight bar 5 which is connected by links, &c., 4, 3c, 3b to the back rest 3a. The bottom end of the lever 8 carries a shaft on which are fixed an arm 13 carrying a roller 13a in contact with the warp beam and another arm 9 which operates the lever 10.
