Abstract

226,303. Smith, R. H., and Shackleton, G. W. Oct. 5, 1923. Letting-off warps; warps, tensioning and guiding.-The oscillating rail 2 over which the warp passes is arranged approximately level with the shaft 5 of its supporting-arms 6. One of the weighted levers 7 on the shaft 5 is connected by a rod 9 to a lever 10, which can act on a projection w on a lever 12 having an arm carrying a pawl 13 engaging a ratchet wheel 14 fixed on a shaft 11 and another arm connected by a rod 15 to a lever 16. When the warp tension increases sufficiently, the levers 12, 16 are moved to cause a pendent arm 16a of the lever 16 to extend into the path of a projection 17 on the laysword, the pawl 13 being thereby actuated to rotate the wheel 14 and shaft 11, which drives the warp beam worm gearing and thus causes the warp to be let-off positively.
