Abstract

14,474. Haddan, H. J., [Bertrand, J.]. June 29. Loom let-off motions.-The warp passes from the beam 10, Fig. 1, over a roller 5, which is carried by a lever 3 pivoted at 4 and oscillated by a spring 2 from a rod 1 connected to the lay. The tension of the warp is thus released during shedding, and drawn tight yarn for the beat-up. In case of excessive tension on the warp, the spring 2 yields, and the continued movement of the rod causes a pin, carried by the lever 3 and engaging an inclined slot in the rod, to raise the free end of the rod and raise a pawl 7. On the return of the lay, the pawl drives a ratchet-wheel and worm gear, to rotate the beam 10. In a modification, the continued movement of the rod 1<1>, Fig. 2, after the spring 2<1> yields, moves the rod 6<1>, by means of an enlargement normally concentric with the pivot 4<1>, and the pawl 7<1> is thus actuated to turn the beam 10<1>. The spring may be replaced by a weighted cord, and the lever 3 may be oscillated by a cam.
