Shuttles; weft-replenishing mechanism. - A longitudinal rod or shaft 5, Figs. 1, 5, and 6, supported loosely at its ends in tubes 6, 7, is provided with a pad 8, which normally bears against the weft on the bobbin &c., as shown in Fig. 5, a block or actuator 9 on the other end of the rod being thereby retained in a raised position, as shown in Fig. 6, in a recess 1<1> in the rear end of the shuttle. When the weft is substantially exhausted, the pad moves upwards past the weft remaining on the bobbin &c., thereby rocking the rod 5 and moving the actuator into an horizontal position, as shown in Fig. 1, so as to engage an arm 10 and actuate weft-replenishing mechanism when the shuttle enters the shuttle-box. The opening in the tube 7 for the rod 5 may be made eccentric, so that, by rotating the tube, the rod may be adjusted relatively to the bobbin. A coiled torsion spring may be attached to the rod 5 and to the shuttle body to rock the rod.
