Abstract

18,039. Fischer, W. Oct. 10. Swivel looms ; forming selvages ; picking-motions; take-up motions.-In looms intended especially for weaving ribbons and other narrow goods, the weft thread x<2> is supplied from a bobbin g at the back, and is drawn into the shed in loop form by a shuttle thread x<3>, which binds the loops to the selvage thread x<1>, as shown in Fig. 18. A finger R on the swinging lay D holds the thread x<2> at the other edge, and the amount of thread let off is regulated by a spring gripping-lever H, which is caused to release it at intervals by a pin h<4> on the lay striking against an incline h<3> at the end of the lever. The thread x<2>, after passing through the gripping-device h, h<1>, passes over a roller g<2> and through a glass eye carried by a tension spring g<4>. The shuttle K, Fig. 18, has an opening to receive a bobbin L, Fig. 12, provided with an extension L<1> and a spring-pressed spindle l<2>. It is operated by rack and pinion gearing from a sliding rack M, Fig. 6, connected by two links N, N<1> with the pin o of a toothed wheel 0, to which motion is imparted by a vertically-sliding rack P. This rack is operated by a lever P<2>, Fig. 2, which is connected at its other end by a link P<3> to a crank P<4> on the shaft d<4>. The shuttle boxes have raceways on both sides of the reed and connected with the lay. The take-up motion is actuated by a pawl f and lever f<1>, connected by a bell-crank lever f<3> and links f<2>, f<5> to the lay.
