Abstract
5602. Leathem, J., and Lyttle, J. March 8. Loom let-off motions; warp tension, regulating.- The pawl-carrying rocker or balance bracket used in certain let-off motions, of the type in which the warp beam is controlled by a worm gearing into a wormwheel thereon, is operated from the tappet-shaft instead of from the rock-shaft of the lay. The shaft A carrying the worm B is operated by means of a ratchet-wheel and a pawl C carried by the rocker or balance bracket D, and a cam or wiper H on the tappet shaft H<1> acts upon a piece G carried in an adjustable bracket g on the rocker. The cam H may be of such a shape as to engage the piece G at every pick or at alternate picks, and the piece G is preferably pivoted at g<1> so as not to operate the motion when the loom is turned backwards. To limit the return movement of the rocker, an arm k is secured on a rod connected to the under-shell L, which rises and falls with the tension of the warp.
