16,403. Lee, W. R. Aug. 4. Looms, pile forming in.-In looms for weaving terry wherein the reeds are operated to produce the looping of the warp threads, the position of the reed is controlled from the dobby by the mechanism shown. The wtdge-sbaped lever a, Figs. 1 and 5, which controls the position of the reed k in a known manner, is connected as shown to a lever c having a slotted connecting-rod d working in conjunction with a stud d' on a dobby jack-lever f. When the jack-lever is raised, the spring g is extended and the spring c<1> is compressed, the lever a being held up at this time by the lever q. When the cam p moves the lever q from under the lever a, the compressed spring c' causes the rod b to move the lever a downwards. When the jack-lever descends, its stud moves in the slot d' of the rod d, the lever q meanwhile holding the lever a in its lowest positiou until the camp relieves it ; the extended spring g then returns the lever c to its original position, and the lever a is accordingly raised.
