Abstract

28,567. Delahousse, L. Jan. 5, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Loom beat-up motions; reeds.-The lay is fixed, and the blades of the reed beat up the weft without leaving the warp at any part of their motion. The weft is brought from the shed against the curved parts of blades A, Fig. 3, by means of slotted arms 21 actuated by rods 23 attached to plates 1, which are reciprocated from the crankshaft in guides 8, 9 at each side of the loom. The blades A are carried by a bar A", which has pins 5, 6, fitting in slots 4, 4<1>, Fig. 5, in the reciprocating plate 1, and in slots 13, 13<1>, Fig. 6, in a plate 10 fixed to the guides 8, 9. As the plate 1 reciprocates to the left, the pin 5 comes in contact with the end of the slot 4, and the pin 6 is raised by a lever 26 fixed to the plate 1 into the slots 4<1>, 13<1>. The blades A are thereby turned into a vertical position and beat up the weft. The lower and upper parts of the arms 21 have a spring connexion, so that the arms 21 may move into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3. In a modification, two sets of blades F, G, Figs. 2 and 8, fixed to bars I, K and vertically movable in a box 15, are used. The movable plate 1 is slotted to receive the box 15, which it reciprocates to beat up the weft. Pins 16, 17 are fixed to the bars I, K and pass through slots 20 in the fixed plate 10, so that as the box 15 is reciprocated, the blades are moved up and down alternately, to allow the weft to pass behind them.
