[Class 142(ii)] In a seersucker loom the crinkle warp beam 3 has a ratchet drive 16 controlled by the tension of the warp and its diameter on the beam. Pawls 18 on a lever 17 are actuated by a cam 20, their idle stroke being limited by a stop 58 carried by a feeler 59, so that the pawls are allowed to increase their stroke as the warp is consumed. The crinkle warp 31 passes round rods 28, 29, 30 on a cam-oscillated frame 33 which varies its tension (ground warp being also supplied by a separate beam). When the tension of the crinkle warp becomes excessive, displacement of the rod 29 against a spring 38 is transmitted by a cable 48 to swing the stop 58 out of the path of the lever 17, thereby allowing the pawls to make a longer stroke.
