Abstract

815,664. Two-part coaplings; binding-posts. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Dec. 4, 1957 [Dec. 4, 1956], No. 37078/56. Class 38 (1). The terminals of a junction or terminal box are each formed with a bar-like extension 15 at one end which is embraced by a diametrically slotted screw-threaded bolt 16, the limbs 17 of which are engaged by a nut 18 adapted to clamp a conductor against the extension 15 with or without the interposition of a stirrup 19. The bolt may be secured to the extension by a screw 22. Fig. 1 shows one application in which the terminals are formed integral with socket contacts 10 held captive between the parts 3, 6 of a two-part insulating body which is in turn carried by a metal shell 1. The socket connector so comprised may .be connected to a similar socket connector by double-ended pins 11 or these pins may be formed integral with terminals according to the invention and forming part of a plug connector. A sealing ring 20 is provided between the two connectors.
