Abstract

814,815. Two-part couplings. ROTH, G., and SCHAFFER, S. June 4, 1957 [March 6, 1956], No. 7055/56. Class 38 (1). A connector associated with apparatus 1 and adapted to receive a plug in either of two alternative positions, comprises a row of three pins 3, 4, 5 (or sockets) located in an opening 2, and a centrally pivoted lever 11 having a masking head 12 adapted, by rocking the lever to either of two positions determined by stops 14, 15 to mask one or the other of the outer pins 3, 5 whereby the plug may be connected to either the pins 3, 4 or the pins 4, 5. The stops may carry a colour indication of the circuit which is temporarily unmasked and the plug may be provided with an earthing contact which engages a metal surround 10 of the opening 2.
