A split terminal pin is formed with a hollow core 3 in which is located a compressible solid insert 4 (e.g. nylon) which prevents over-compression of the pin when a socket is forced over it. An enlarged end portion 7 retains the socket on the pin. An insulated extractor for removal of the socket from the pin is described.
