Abstract

814,642. Overload devices for hoists and cranes. HANDELSEN INGENIEURSBUREAU W.B. VAN DEN BERG N.V. Nov. 25, 1955 [Aug. 25, 1954], No. 24798/54. Classes 78 (4) and 78 (5). A hoist overload device is of the type wherein the hoisting rope 18 is connected to the hoist casing 6 through an overload element, said element comprising switching means 29 operable on overlead to break the circuit of a switch 30 and so switch out the hoist motor. As shown, cable 18 is reeved round wedge 12 carried in wedge plate 12A slidable in body part 4, the pressure of the cable being transmitted at 13 to pressure plate 14 pivoted at 15 so that rod 19 is pulled downwards against Belleville washers 25 .whereby plunger 29 descends an amount which, when the tension in cable 18 is excessive, is sufficient to open the contacts of microswitch 30 and stop the hoist motor.
