Abstract

729,043. Platform hoists. BRITISH HOIST & CRANE CO., Ltd., and EVANS, P. N. March 24, 1953 [March 24, 1952], No. 7524/52. Class 78 (5). In a platform hoist having an end stop gear actuated by the platform, the control cable 22, which is jerked by the platform as the latter reaches its limit to stop the winch, passes round pulley 30 biased by spring 32 to keep the cable tight. As shown, pulley 30 is carried by piston 29 pressed by the spring 32 to move within cylinder 28. The rope from pulley 30 passes, on its way to the winch drum, round pulley 37 carried by plug 33 rotatably mounted on cylinder 28, so that the pull caused by the platform reaching its upper or lower limit is transmitted to the winch control to switch off the winch. The hoist is preferably of the type set out in Specification 647,525.
