Abstract

731,145. Chain hoists. MORRIS, Ltd., H., and MORRIS, F. M. Nov. 30, 1953, No. 33219/53. Class 78 (5). A chain hoist 7 comprises a pivoted lever 6 which carries sleeves 7 so shaped as to permit the passage of chain links 3, twisting of the chain causing the lever to pivot so as to cut off the power supply. As shown, sleeves 7 are provided free to move along the arms of the lever 6, tilting of which about shaft 11 operates a switch. The hoist may be driven electrically, pneumatically or hydraulically and may be controlled by ropes attached to arms secured to shaft 11 so that the latter is rotated when said ropes are pulled.
