In a mine belt 1 driven by motor 4 drives capstan 9 through gearing 8, 10, and capstan 9 drives endless rope 11 which by means of a haulage clip, hauls cutter 2 to and fro. The capstan may have a horizontal axis and the ropes may be arranged one above the other. Fig. 3. The clip comprises jaw 17 and jaws 19, 21 which are carried by links 18, 20 and caused to grip by handwheel 26, the handwheel having a screw connection with screw shaft 28 which is pivotally connected to links 18, 20 by plate 24.
