814,466. Lubricating bearings. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. March 16, 1956 [March 19, 1955], No. 8327/56. Class 12 (3). A bearing 1 is lubricated by means of an impeller 4 which as it rotates produces compressed air, the air blowing oil from the surface of oil in a sump 3 on to the bearing. The oil thrown against the bearing is collected in a sump 5 and returned to the sump 3 through a channel 6 provided with a throttling device 10. In addition to the channel 6 a .pipe provided with a throttling device may lead from the bottom of the sump 5 to a point where the pressure is below atmospheric.
