Abstract

625,109. Bearings. GUBBINS, C. H. May 14, 1946, No. 14498. [Class 12 (i)] A device for providing resiliency in a ball, roller, or other bearing consists of a metal collar which is adapted to be clipped on to the outer or inner bearing-member and is formed with yielding protuberances arranged to bear on the bearing-housing or shaft. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the collar 7 is formed with prongs 8 clipped over the outer ball-race 3, and interspaced prongs 10 having swells bearing on the housing 6. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the prongs 12 project from the collar 11 between the inner ball-race 4 and shaft, swells 13 on some of the prongs bearing directly on the shaft 5.
