Abstract

723,399. Yielding bearing supports. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GES. Dec. 1, 1952 [Dec. 4, 1951]. No. 30406/52. Class 12 (1). A shaft 1 is supported by single-row radial ball bearings 3, and the inner race 2 of at least one of the bearings 3 is firmly secured on the shaft whilst the outer race 4 is free to move axially in a housing 5, a resilient ring 6 being interposed between a lateral face of the race 4 and the adjacent wall of the casing. The ring 6 may be of rubber or artificial rubber, and may be circular in cross section before being compressed between the ring 4 and the casing. The compression of the ring 6 may be limited by an annular projection in the housing, Fig. 3a, or by a metal ring 7, Fig. 3b. The resilient ring may be U-shaped in cross-section, Fig. 3c.
