850,234. Force-feed lubricating. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTION MECANIQUES. Sept. 26, 1957 [April 25, 1957], No. 30248/57. Class 12 (3). [Also in Group XXVI] Lubrication of the journal and throat bearings 38, 41 and 45, 47 respectively of a shaft 6 having an integral screw-pump 28 is effected by drawing lubricant from a container 32 to the pump which delivers into an annular space 33 around the shaft, from which lubricant is fed to the bearings by a channel 43. A cooling stream of oil is ejected on to a disc or frusto-conical baffle 57 from which it falls to the base of a shaft-sealing chamber 11 and, with oil drained from the bearings, is returned to the tank 32 into which a cooling coil 59 is introduced. The shaft 6 represents the driving member of the rotor 5 of a compressor disposed in a casing 2, and oil, mixed with gas leaking from the casing into the chamber 11, is separated and returned to the circulating system.
