Abstract

766,038. Compressors. STEMPELHERMETIK GES. July 18, 1955, No. 20756/55. Class 8(1) In a sealed compressor unit for small refrigerators which is centrifugally lubricated in a manner such that oil is taken from an oil bath 7 in the compressor housing 8 by a vertical motor shaft 1 through a dip pipe 6 which is connected to an oil feed bore 10 in a crank pin 4 on the motor shaft, the mouth 9 of the dip pipe lying in a vertical plane adjacent the shaft axis the oil being conveyed along a spiral groove 11 on the motor shaft through the shaft bearing 2 and thrown off centrifugally by a throw wheel 12 attached to the top end of the motor shaft and provided with vanes 13 for ventilating the motor drive, the dip pipe 6 inclines downwardly from the crank pin at an angle such that the lower end of the pipe, which is immersed in the oil bath, spans the horizontal spacing between the shaft axis and the oil feed bore in the crank pin. The armature 3 of the draining motor has its hub 3a at the top end of the motor shaft, the bottom end of the armature freely surrounding the shaft bearing 2. A bore 14 in the bearing conveys oil to a groove 15 and thence to a collector 16 and bore 18 in the cylinder 17 to lubricate the compressor piston 5.
