Abstract
814,006. Oil fired furnaces. VULLIERME, M. March 19, 1956 [March 18, 1955], No. 8503/56. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XIII] The quartz tube 9 of an instantaneous steam boiler 16 (see Group XII) is heated by radiation from a flame projected axially therethrough from an oil-injecting nozzle at its top, compressed combustion air at a high temperature flowing into the tube around the flame with a spinning motion imparted by vanes 7, and forming a screen to protect the tube surface from flame contact. Combustion gases leaving the lower end of the tube flow through a heat exchanger 3 and a turbine wheel 19 driving an air compressor 1, the air from which passes through the heat exchanger 3 and through a duct 6 to enter the combustion tube 9. After leaving the turbine the combustion gases flow through a further heat exchanger 24 in indirect contact with the fuel oil being pumped to the burner nozzle by a pump 20a.
