Abstract
597,992. Gas turbines. KNUDSEN, H. Aug. 27, 1945, No. 21971. [Class 110 (iii)] Liquid fuel is heated and vaporized before introduction to the combustion chamber of a continuous combustion gas turbine. Air from the compressor passes through an annular passage 12 to a combustion chamber 21. The fuel is pumped through a coiled pipe 16, where it receives heat from the compressed air, to a pipe 18 closed at the end but perforated as at 22 on both sides. The fuel escaping through the perforations falls on to the outside of the wall 20 of the combustion chamber and is vaporized. The vapour is drawn into the airstrea.m by means of venturi tubes 26 enclosing perforated nozzle parts 25. Many spaced and upwardly-inclined perforated baffles 29 are located on the outside of the combustion chamber.
