Abstract
726,995. Radiator stoves; burners modified for special purposes. HEIZMOTOREN GES. April 1, 1953 [April 5, 1952; Sept. 17, 1952], No. 9087/53. Classes 75(1) and 126. [Also in Group XII] A heating apparatus comprising a burner and an enclosed combustion chamber which in operation is at least temporarily maintained at a pressure above that of the surrounding atmosphere is characterized by the provision of a sealed airtight safety chamber which encloses the combustion chamber and the heat exchange portions of its exhaust pipe or pipes and is coupled by a suction connection to a low-pressure zone of said burner such that any gases leaking from the pipe or pipes into the safety chamber are returned to the burner system. In the embodiment shown the heater comprises a reso-jet system i.e. combustion chamber 1 and exhaust tubes 2, 3-forming a Helmholtz resonator-plus combustion tube 7, fuel igniter 8, carburettor 9, non-return valve 10, suction silencer 11 and filtered air inlet 12. The chamber 1 and tubes 2, 3, of the system together with an exhaust silencer 5 lie within a safety chamber 13 filled with metal-wool packing 16 and connected to the silencer 11 by a pipe 17. The exhaust pipe 6 may be made looplike to extend a little way into the chamber 13. In a further embodiment. Fig. 2, combustion chamber 22 with exhaust tubes 23, 24 lie within a safety chamber 21 the chamber 22 being provided with a constriction 33 into which a nozzle 34 forming, with gas and air feed pipes 35, 36, a burner system, projects. In this case the suction connection is the annular opening between chamber 22 and nozzle 34. Chamber 21 is filled with metal-wool and provided with external heat exchange surfaces such as 27, 28. For ignition purposes the burner system is withdrawn from the chamber. In the burner shown in Fig. 4, a hollow body 51 is disposed within an exhaust tube 50 gas and air being fed to this body through a pipe 55'and an annular opening surrounding a rotatable sleeve 58 respectively. This sleeve is mounted in bearings 56, 57, 57a, and carries a fan 59 within the body 51 rotation of the fan, by a motor driven pulley 62, creating the necessary suction effect in the suction connections 54. The fuel intake valve 64 controlled by bellows 65 enables the fuel supply to be blocked immediately the pressure within the safety chamber 61 exceeds a given value.
