Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the thermal efficiency of a gas turbine, by using a heat source except for the gas turbine to heat air discharged from a compressor for the turbine.
CONSTITUTION: Air A1 is compressed by a compressor 3. The highly pressurized air A2 is conducted to a heat exchanger 9 and heated by high-temperature combustion gas A5 from an industrial furnace 6. The air A2' of thus heightened pressure and temperature is conducted to a combustor 5. Fuel F1 is blown into the combustor 5 so that the fuel is burned and the air A2' is changed into high- temperature combustion gas A3. The gas A3 is conducted to a turbine 4. The exhaust gas A4 from the turbine 4 is conducted as buring air to the industrial furnace 6. Fuel F2 is blown into the furnace 6 so that the fuel is burned. Heat generated in the furnace 6 is used for a prescribed process. The high-temperature combustion gas A5 imparts heat to the air A2 in the exhanger 9 so that the gas A5 becomes air A5' of reduced temperature. The air A5' acts to generate steam in a waste heat boiler 7 so that the air becomes combustion gas A6. The pressure of the combustion gas A6 is heightened by a blower 8 so that the gas is released into the atmosphere.
