Abstract
813,823. Inductors. PHOTO PRINTED CIRCUITS Ltd. Aug. 23, 1955 [Aug. 24, 1954], No. 24662/54. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVI] Figs. 4 and 5 show a resistor in which a sheet of copper foil 10 has a patch 11 of insulating material such as that sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Araldite," a layer of resistance material 12 is then formed over the patch and is longer than the patch to provide overlapping ends, the width of the layer 12 is however less than the patch, the layer may be formed in any suitable manner, a preferred method of forming being as described in Specification 813,821, [Group XXXVI], in which a colloid containing suspended graphite is formed on the metal foil by means of a printing process. The face of the foil 10, bearing patch 11 and layer 12 is then fixed to a support 13 of insulating material by suitable bonding means shown at 14, the short circuit to the foil is then removed by etching a slit, as shown at 15 across the foil. An inductor of spiral shape, as shown at 16 in Fig. 7, may be formed in the copper foil, the outer end of the spiral being connected to the right-hand terminals of the element and the inner end of the spiral connected by means of a wire to the other terminal of the resistor. Fig. 8 shows another construction in which the patch 11 and resistance layer 12 are smaller and a spiral inductor 18 is provided formed in the copper foil. Other constructions such as inductors, capacitors or both may be formed on the foil lying over the insulating patch.
