Abstract

868,116. Transformers and inductors. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 9, 1957 [July 13, 1956], No. 21658/56. Class 38 (2). An inductor or transformer is formed by printed circuit technique on a sheet of terepthalate polyester which is not more than about <SP>1</SP>/ 1000 inch thick. This material exhibits low dielectric loss, high resistance to tearing, is impervious to water. A spiral inductor may be formed by etching away areas of aluminium from an aluminized sheet of the plastic, and may be very thin or thickened by electroplating on it of silver and copper. The terminals may be eyelets riveted to the sheet. A mutual inductor may be formed by printing two coils on opposite sides of the sheet or by printing them on the same side of the sheet at 7, 8 and folding the sheet at 9. Inductances may be mounted in a stack through which a hole is punched to contain a laminated core. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 639,591.
