Abstract

833,005. Inductors and transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 28, 1956 [Dec. 30, 1955], No. 39488/56. Class 38 (2). A coil former for use with printed circuits, comprises a spool body of insulating material with at least one flange 14 of insulating material having a conducting surface 15. The former is mounted in a hole in the printed circuit board 20. The conducting surface 15 is etched away as at 29, 33 to form appropriate conducting surfaces to which are soldered coil leads from the ends and from taps, as at 28, and which surfaces are soldered to the printed circuit conductors 23. Core 22 consists of E-shaped laminations pushed into the coil alternately from opposite sides until they are wedged in position. Alternatively the conducting surfaces may bear taps which pass through board 20 to be soldered to the printed circuits (Fig. 6, not shown).
