Abstract

813,551. Piston packing. PROCEDO G.m.b.H. Aug. 22, 1956 [Aug. 22, 1955], No. 25699/56. Class 122 (1). [Also in Group XXXII] A spring-loaded piston defining one end of the working chamber of a direct-shock absorber (see Group XXXII) comprises a pot-shaped elastic sleeve 18 supported on a rigid sleeve 17 and having a radial projecting sealing lip 20. The lip 20 is outwardly urged by an annular spring 21 and is formed with a bevelled edge which defines an angle α equal to 30-40 degrees with the end face 22 of the member 19. The other end of the member 19 is supported in the cylinder of the shock absorber by a radially projecting rib 26. Similar ribs 26 may be provided at other positions on the skirt of the member 19. In a modified construction the rib 26 is replaced by a further sealing lip 20.
