Abstract

997,548. Seals; pneumatic shock absorbers. STABILUS INDUSTRIE UND HANDELSGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. Jan. 15, 1964 [Jan. 15, 1963], No. 1800/64. Headings F2B and F2S. The piston-rod 15 of a pneumatic spring is sealed by two sealing rings 5 and 6 which abut stepped annular surfaces 3 and 4 respectively of a guide bush 1 and are separated from each other by a collar 7 of a bearing bush 8. In use, the rings 5 and 6 are compressed between the bush 1 and the collar 7 and between the collar 7 and the cylinder end flange 13 respectively by the pressure of the gas 2 in the cylinder 9 acting on the bush 1 which on the end exposed to the gas has a collar 11 tightly fitting the cylinder wall and an annular groove 12. A recess 10 is provided in the bush 1 adjacent the ring 5. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a support washer is disposed between the ring 6 and the flange 13.
