Abstract

1,012,854. Springs. STABILUS, INDUSTRIEUND HANDELSGESELLSCHAFT, m.b.H. May 6, 1963 [May 14, 1962], No. 17858/63. Heading F2S. In a high-pressure spring unit the working space 2 in a cylinder and surrounding annular chambers 3-6 are filled with a liquid which is under a pressure of the order of 2000-5000 atmospheres absolute pressure and which provides at least a part of the resilient means, a differential piston 1 working in the cylinder. The unit is preferably made of a material, e.g. aluminium, having substantially the same thermal expansion as the liquid, e.g. silicone oil. As shown, all of the annular chambers, which may be of different sizes, are separated by porous metal filters 8 and communicate by passages 7 with the working space 2. Additional resilient means, e.g. rubber or compressible fluid, e.g. air, may be inserted in one or more of the chambers 3-6, the fluid being separated, if desired, by an elastic diaphragm or bellows.
